On April 29, we welcomed our three closest Mennonite church neighbors to a regional worship service. Fifty-five people from Madison Mennonite Church (WI), Maple Avenue Mennonite Church (Waukesha, WI), North Suburban Mennonite Church (Libertyville, IL), and Milwaukee Mennonite Church celebrated Christ's resurrection with the theme "Abide in me."
Dale Kempf from North Suburban helped to lead singing, Bradlee Fons from Maple Avenue read scripture, and Tonya Ramer Wenger from Madison preached. During a time of prayer, representatives from all four congregations shared how God is bearing fruit in each of our settings, along with some of the challenges currently being faced. An offering was taken to support Mennonite World Conference's efforts to facilitate community between Anabaptist-related churches worldwide. We also had the opportunity to build relationships during the fellowship meal that followed the afternoon service. This gathering has reaffirmed our commitment to the Mennonite branch of the broader Christian church as we seek to follow Jesus in our corner of the world. We look forward to connecting with our neighbors in new ways in the future! |
