The purpose of our Mission and Service Team is to direct Milwaukee Mennonite Church in serving our neighbors and pursuing reconciliation within our community, city, nation, and world. The team strives towards that purpose by:

  • Coordinating service opportunities that enable people within the congregation to participate in ways that use their time and gifts to extend God's love, peace, hope and justice to the world.
  • Seeking service opportunities that will enable us to build relationships with those whom we serve that are characterized by honor and respect.
  • Guiding in good stewardship the funds designated for mission and service.
  • Keeping the congregation informed about global concerns and Mennonite service organizations activities around the world.

In the past year we have supported the following organizations:

Christian Peacemaker Teams
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC)

Mennonite Mission Network (MMN)
Mennonite World Conference (MWC)
Agape Community Center
Milwaukee Innercity Congregations Allied for Hope (MICAH)
Peace Learning Center of Milwaukee
Repairers of the Breach
Sojourner Family Peace Center

Ongoing service projects as of 2010 include: collecting non-perishable food for a local food pantry, serving food at a local shelter, assembling kits of school supplies, doing a letter-writing campaign, and donating Christmas gifts for children through the Giving Tree. Finally, we have also been exploring ways to address environmental and justice issues around food through an initiative called Just Community Food.
