By all reports the junior youth Sunday School class had a good time at their recent lock-in. After spending much of the day together on Saturday, November 17, they, along with a few friends, had a sleep-over at church. In the midst of all the fun they also took time out for a shopping trip to purchase items for the local food pantry.
Thanks go out to Sarah for organizing this event, chaperoning, and leading discussions on mentoring. Thanks also to Megan for the knitting lessons, Rebecca for helping with the skating outing at the Pettit Ice Center, Tim and Cathy for leading games on Saturday evening, and Daniel for leading some Capoeira exercises bright and early on Sunday morning.

For part of our worship service on October 21, 2007, we focused on the situation in Zimbabwe. A recent international Koinonia Delegation sent by Mennonite World Conference (MWC) noted the hardships experienced by many people due to things such as food and water shortages, extreme inflation, and record unemployment. Zimbabwe hosted the last MWC World Assembly in 2003, and Mennonites from around the world were blessed by the hospitality they experienced.
As a congregation we offered our prayers for the people of Zimbabwe, and also collected an offering of $788 for the emergency fund that has been set up by Mennonite Central Committee.

On June 1st through 3rd we headed north to Pike Lake State Park for our first camping weekend.
Despite rain showers that had a knack for arriving during meal times (and when tents were being set up or taken down), we had a good time hiking, playing, eating, and singing together.

Fifty-five people from Madison Mennonite Church (WI), Maple Avenue Mennonite Church (Waukesha, WI), North Suburban Mennonite Church (Libertyville, IL), and Milwaukee Mennonite Church celebrated Christ's resurrection with the theme "Abide in me."
